Stowmarket Christmas Fayre
We were excited to take part in the Stowmarket Christmas Fayre on 28th November. At Red Gables we held a Charity Fair, with 15 various local charities setting up in our car park.
As this was the first time, we'd held an event like this, we really weren't sure what to expect at all. So, to see lots of people coming up the driveway throughout the day was really fantastic.
There was a variety of stalls, including BSEVC’s popular chocolate tombola, natural handmade Christmas decorations from Stowmarket Eco Futures and Nurture Together, a teddy tombola run by the Kitty Kat Rescue, The Literacy Trust were there handing free books out to children, The Red Gables Garden Project were busy selling at their bric-a-brac stall and made £125.00.
Although it's an early estimate we believe that altogether the stalls at the Red Gables Charity Fair raised over £1500!
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the charities that took part, the wonderful volunteers who helped the event run smoothly, the musicians and singers that kept us entertained throughout the day and everyone who came along and supported the fair.
The weather was particularly chilly, but everyone was able to warm up in Redwoods with a delicious glass of mulled wine, a piece of cake or a tasty warm mince pie.
It was a fantastic community based day full of fun and festive cheer with lots of happy smiling faces. We are definitely thinking about running further charity fairs at Red Gables in the future…watch this space!
A big thank you also to The Gipping Oddfellows and Asda Stowmarket for their kind donations, that helped us raise nearly £300 for the charity.
