Music in the gardens

We were delighted to host a Stowmarket Dementia Alliance event at Red Gables in early August. Sinfonia Viva, a team of musicians Grammy nominated orchestra played a selection of music with fun audience participation included.

Luckily, it was a lovely dry day with sun at times, which meant we were able to have the event on the lawn in front of the main building, which created a lovely atmosphere surrounded by the beautiful mature trees. The orchestra led by the double bassist Dave, provided an informative, fun, and engaging afternoon of entertainment.  It was great to see people enjoying the music and taking part, at one point everyone in the audience had their own percussion instrument to join in, there was even a ball thrown about, to which the orchestra would only play once the ball was caught. It also showed the immeasurable wellbeing benefits of experiencing live music together.

Over 30 people enjoyed the free to attend event, which was part of Extraordinary Arts Package programme supported and funded by Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, Orchestras Live, Arts Council England and the Postcode Community Trust.
